Current Job Openings

Management Analyst (Salary Range 33: $9,539 to $11,596.37 Monthly)

(This is an at-will position that will be hired at 72 hours per pay period and a schedule of

nine 8-hour workdays per two week pay period with every other Friday off)

The Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (AHA) is proud of its mission and accomplishments.  In partnership with the community, AHA advocates and provides quality, affordable safe housing, encourages self-sufficiency, and strengthens community in housing.

AHA is expanding its housing services and as a result is seeking several exceptional, team-oriented candidates to work at the Management Analyst level. Management Analysts work on a wide range of analytical, management, and technical assignments supporting AHA operations and programs, and will have the opportunity to perform meaningful and impactful work for an agency dedicated to providing affordable housing in the most impacted region of the nation.

All candidates must have excellent analytical, written and presentation skills. Strong excel skills and the ability to read and analyze policy are required for all management analyst roles. These positions are dynamic, flexible, highly self-motivated, and work is both independent and collaborative at times.  However, the skills experience for each department may differ slightly (see below). Candidates will be considered for all open positions but should indicate in their supplemental answers which department/s they would prefer to be considered for. Successful candidates will, over time, be provided with projects outside of their department as well to increase their overall knowledge of the agency. They will also sit on various agency-wide committees and panels. All candidates are expected to become certified on the Housing Choice Voucher Program within 6 months if not already certified.

  • One of the positions currently open is in the Data and Policy Department. This position works on data and policy issues across the agency, including the Moving To Work (MTW) and the Housing Choice Voucher assistance programs.  Candidates must have strong project administration skills, excellent data management skills and demonstrated ability to interpret policy/regulations. Housing and/or Yardi experience are preferred but not required.
  • One of the positions currently open is in the Property Operations Department. This position works on compliance and asset management tasks for AHA’s directly owned real estate portfolio of 800+ units and as a regulator for AHA’s loans, ground leases, PBV contract and partnerships with other owners in Alameda. Candidates must have excellent financial management skills as well as LIHTC asset management, property management or affordable housing compliance experience. Yardi or other housing software skills are strongly preferred.

Housing Development Specialist (Salary Range 23: $46.00 to $55.91 Hourly)

Property Management Supervisor (Salary Range 33: $114,476 to $139,156 Annually)

AHA is seeking a collaborative and highly qualified candidate to serve as a Property Management Supervisor. This position will support AHA’s operations and programs through a variety of analytical, managerial, and technical assignment and will have the opportunity to perform meaningful and impactful work for an agency committed to providing affordable housing in one of the nation’s most impacted regions.

About the recruitment process:

The Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (AHA) recruitment process generally consists of the following steps for permanent hires. The interview process may differ for temporary hires, for exempt staff positions, or in circumstances in which an outside recruiter is being used. The specific order below may also differ depending on the type of position and number of candidates. AHA reserves the right to interview candidates as they apply.

  1. Application: Candidates fill out the AHA application and submit answers to supplemental questions (if required). Candidates are asked to closely read the job description before applying. AHA’s website is also a useful resource. 
  2. First interview: This is usually held via online video, for roughly 30-45 minutes.
  3. Online Testing – Candidates complete online testing through an AHA vendor. Candidates should watch for this in their email. This may be sent before or after the first interview. 
  4. Second interview – This is held in person at our offices at 701 Atlantic Avenue and a written test that is specific to the position is also done at the same time. Candidates should allow 2 hours in total. (Note: for some positions, a third interview or tour of the properties is held).
  5. References: Three references are required.These may be checked before the first or second interview. Please include prior supervisors in your list of references. 
  6. Offer: Conditional offers are made in writing by HR. Generally, offers are time limited (2 business days). 
  7. Background check: This is done after acceptance of the offer and before the start date.  
  8. Start date: New hires start on Monday (unless Monday is a holiday). The start date is usually no sooner than 2 weeks from the offer date. If a candidate needs a later start date, they should indicate that in the application form.

During the week of June 30th,  Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (AHA) offices will only be open Monday (June 30), Tuesday (July 1), and Wednesday (July 2) during the hours of 8:30am to 11:30am.   AHA offices will be closed on Thursday, July 3rd and Friday, July 4th.

In recent weeks, the Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (AHA) issued over 60,000 letters regarding the December 2024 waitlist opening.   Unfortunately, AHA cannot respond to your emails or phone calls. Applicants are advised to closely review any letter(s) sent from AHA and/or a “Save My Spot” email from cdr@yardi.com.

If you selected multiple wait lists when you applied in December 2024, you may be notified multiple times via written letter for each wait list you applied to.   A lottery for each wait list is performed separately.  So applicants may, for example, be selected for one wait list but not selected for another wait list.   See FAQs for more information.  Please also note that being selected for a wait list does not mean housing is available immediately.
