Landlord Benefits of renting to a Housing Choice Voucher Holder

AHA currently partners with over 400 private landlords in the City of Alameda to provide safe and affordable housing to families and individuals. These landlords are critical to meeting the consistently high demand for affordable housing in the City of Alameda, and assisting AHA in creating more affordable housing options for our Housing Choice Voucher holders. The Poplar

The Poplar is a property (located at 2615 Eagle Avenue) that was purchased from the Alameda Unified School District and the transaction was completed in March 2022. The Eagle Avenue property is in the preliminary stages of planning to eventually build 40 to 50 affordable rental apartments. The apartment homes will be affordable to households making between 20-80% of area median income and will include a preference for those who currently live and work in the City of Alameda.

AHA is hopeful that a preference will be provided to staff of the Alameda Unified School District. The Housing Authority hopes to reach out to the surrounding neighborhood with its initial plans in early 2024.
