PIH Notice 2020-33, 2020-13 and 2020-05

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act (Public Law 116-136) provides the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) with broad authority to waive or establish alternative requirements for numerous statutory and regulatory requirements for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. The waivers being utilized by the AHA are posted on the website here.   


To help curb transmissions of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), effective Monday, March 16, 2020, the Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (AHA) has suspended public access to the main office and the site offices until further notices and at least until the shelter in place is lifted.  Staff continues to provide services via phone and email.  A statement with additional staff contact information was issued April 21, 2020.

Alameda City Council passes urgency ordinance on March 17, 2020 concerning evictions where tenants have been financially impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Customer service remains the top priority and a statement of ways to communicate with AHA staff and services still available was issued March 15, 2020.  

As many participants, residents, landlords, partners and family members are concerned about the spread of the 2019 coronavirus, a statement about the steps the AHA is currently taking to address this issue was issued March 12, 2020. Thank you for your continued support of our residents, programs, and staff during this difficult time.

Community Garden Wait List

The Bay Eagle Community Garden is currently accepting AHA tenants onto its wait list. Garden plots will be assigned as they become available to eligible gardeners in the order received. All potential gardeners must reside in the City of Alameda.

AHA Earns High Performer Award

The Housing Authority of the City of Alameda is proud to announce that it was awarded with a certificate recognizing AHA as a 2018 Housing Choice Voucher Program High Performer by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Housing Programs Director, Lynette Jordan, accepted the award on behalf of AHA at the NAHRO (National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials) Northern California/Nevada Chapter Annual Conference in January.
